(More customer reviews)It doesn't get any easier than this. I paired the enclosure with a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 GB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 2.5 Inch, 8 MB Cache, 5400 RPM SATA II WD5000BEVT. The drive slid into the case and was recognized by Windows XP when plugged into a USB port. The package comes with some screws and a throw away screw driver. I never did figure out where the screws were supposed to go.
I've got another 2.5" USB 2.0 SATA Hard Drive HDD Case Enclosure - Silver that requires screws to assemble. That case requires disassembly to swap out hard drives. This case with the clamshell design allows easier drive swaps.
The double pigtail doesn't bother me. The enclosure works fine even if only plugged into one USB port, provided the main plug and not the extended plug is used. I've hooked two auxiliary drives into my laptop using these enclosures, each on single USB port, a very convenient setup for backups.
The only drawback to this enclosure is the 500gig limit. Who would of thought a terabyte is becoming the norm?
addendum: I have reduced my product rating from 5 to 3 stars for the following reason.
I bought additional enclosures on Nov 11, and DID NOT receive the enclosure pictured. HDE was the vendor. The vendors seem to rotate for this product. I bought my original enclosures from Eforcity. The new enclosure lacks the convenient push button to open. The new enclosure is kept closed by a plastic band. I was frustrated by the lack of instructions about how to disassemble the new cases for installation of the hard drive. Fortunately, I spent time in the USN and can open anything given a big enough hammer. I'll post some pictures of the current enclosure in the next couple days.
addendum 2: I've uploaded some images comparing the old and new cases. I've also provided an illustration of my method of opening the latest case. I prefer the old case which is still available from other vendors, for example: 2.5" SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure Case - 500FB Max Capacity. Eforcity is still periodically listed as the vendor for this product, and I assume they are still offering the pictured enclosure.
addendum 3: HDE read my addendums and offered either to replace the hard drive enclosures or a full refund. Since I am using the enclosures they sent, I declined their offer, but give them credit for offering to do the right thing for customer satisfaction.

This hard drive enclosure for 2.5" SATA-interface drives makes your files ultra-portable: fits in your pocket and can be accessed by any computer's USB ports. The included cable has two USB plugs (Type A, the regular kind) for connecting to the computer, and one mini-USB plug for the hard drive. (It uses two plugs for input/output & power from the PC.) The indicator light shows you when the drive is being accessed. Perfect drive solution for students, business people, and those on the go! To determine if your hard drive is an IDE drive or a SATA drive, please look for the connectors. An IDE connector is longer, and has two rows of pins that stick out. A SATA connector is smaller and has two plastic tabs with flat metal contacts.
